FI+Z Digital Motors

The DM1 Digital Motor (shown on the left) provides the ultimate in power and reliability under all operating conditions. It has proven its ruggedness under extremes of temperature, humidity, and vibration. Its gears are coated with Diamond like Carbon (DLC) to provide unexcelled toughness and efficiency. It is compatible with the FI+Z MDR2 unit, the Digital Micro Force and the one-channel Video Lens Control.

The DM2 motor is a smaller and lighter version of the original DM1. It is intended to perform the Focus, Iris or Zoom functions on all but the stiffest cinema lenses. (These jobs should still be relegated to its bigger brother DM1.) The length of the DM2 housing is 100mm (3.9"), compared to 120mm (4.7") for the DM1, while its weight has been reduced by 30% of the DM1; from 415g to 290g. Both units share the same rugged worm reduction gearing with DLC coatings. They also share motor housings which are machined from a solid bar of Magnesium alloy and coated with a special ceramic before painting. This combination provides exceptional resistance to salt spray and moisture.

The small size and high resolution of the DM2 motor make it ideally suited for Steadicam and HDTV applications. Step-up gears are available for use with Panavision cinema lenses as well as Canon and Fujinon video lenses.

The mounting brackets are the same for both motors and are available for use with 15mm, 19mm, and .625" rod systems.
